Reflections:
- What have I learnt in this module?
In the course of studying this subject I have gained a deeper understanding of the basic concepts of design, in which some of the rules and regulations that I have known and used but never explored or regularised have been systematically understood and applied after going through this subject. This knowledge base has allowed me to make clearer progress in my future design career and has laid a solid foundation for my future studies. I really appreciate and enjoy the process of learning and making.
- What did I enjoy the most?
In fact, the part I enjoy the most is when I actually start to apply the conceptual techniques and create a complete piece of artwork, which is when I finish Project 3, because that's when I can most clearly feel the improvement in my technique and typography and the feeling of these concepts coming to life, which boosts my confidence and helps me solidify my understanding of the concepts. This feeling can enhance my confidence, and also help me consolidate my memory and understanding of these design principles.
- What did I not enjoy the most?
The least enjoyable part for me is actually when we need to make suggestions for enhancements and changes to the original painting, because in my perception, the painting I chose is naturally one that I really like and I think it's already very well done, and it's hard for me to think outside the box and think of new directions and enhancements, and that's the part that makes me the most frustrated.
Through this course I hope to achieve a better understanding of design principles and to be able to create more impactful typography and designs that capture the viewer's vision. At the same time, I hope to be able to break away from the original image of colour and elevate it to a part of the painting that carries meaning and significance. This will enhance the integrity and sophistication of my designs, and at the same time make my paintings and designs more ‘stylised’, which is exactly what I want.
- What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
During the course of my studies, my typography and choice of colours have improved significantly, and I am able to identify more clearly and quickly the shape of the subject I want to work on and to choose solid colours according to the mood or atmosphere I want to express in the image. However, I still haven't changed or improved much on the detailing of the image and some of the basics of the painting, as these skills are mainly due to daily practice, but with the addition of typography, what was originally a bit plain and simple image can look more complete.
