Design:

I chose this draft as a sketch for my final product.

I started by refining the forms and expressions of the characters even more from the original, carving out the original rough outlines in more detail.

At this stage I redrew some details on top of the original line drawing, I changed the expression of the snake wrapped around the protagonist's hand to be more ferocious, and made the protagonist's facial expression more grim, so as to emphasise the impact of the picture.

I finished the base colours based on the harmony of the image and subjectivity.

Feedback:

Mr Anwar provided me with a very efficient evaluation of my work and very professional advice on how to improve the direction of this piece of work, he said that I could have portrayed more details as a way to make the picture itself more complete. At the same time Mr. Anwar also gave me more ideas, for example, if I wanted the snake in the hand to be the main focus of the viewer's attention, I could have considered using more outlandish colours such as pink, but keeping the snake in black would have made the focus of the image more towards the main subject of the image.

Reflections:

While working on this project I felt that the design principles that were once not so clear to me became clearer when I was working on it, and I was able to be more aware of which design techniques I was using, rather than just choosing a certain type of typography or drawing style that I had unconsciously thought would look good in the past. Although this may not seem like a significant improvement or change in results, it's certainly an important foundation to build on, and these solid foundational concepts will help me recognise my own shortcomings and know how to improve more clearly when it comes to self-improvement.
