TASK 2 : Photo Bashing
When I first attempted photo bashing, I merely cut and distorted images to fill my composition, making little beyond basic lighting adjustments. I even altered the shape of the house in the concept art because I couldn't find a suitable cottage.
Following Mr Kannan's guidance and suggestions, I adjusted the lighting and shadows in the image and refined the building's form to more closely match my original vision. I also enhanced the consistency and logical coherence of the texture mapping.
Yet this alone proved insufficient. Through the gentleman's guidance, I realised I had consistently misplaced the relative importance of texture mapping and painting within photo bashing. Consequently, under Mr Kannan's direction, I rendered the scene's contrast relationships and blocky forms with greater clarity, while adding subtle colour accents to imbue the image with enhanced coherence and narrative depth.

Reflection:
Through this task, I gained a much deeper understanding of photo bashing. At first, I thought it was simply cutting different images and pasting them onto an existing sketch. However, I soon realized that effective photo bashing requires more than just placing images—it involves color correction, painting, and careful adjustments to make the images integrate seamlessly into the overall composition. I also came to understand that images function more as textures or surface details rather than full objects to be literally “cut out” and placed. Additionally, subtle additions or reductions to the original composition are often necessary to make the scene feel more realistic and natural.
From initially feeling completely lost to gradually improving my work under the guidance of Mr Kannan, I learned a great deal of new knowledge and gained valuable hands-on experience. Through repeated experimentation and refinement, I also discovered the enjoyment inherent in the creative process. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills in photo bashing but also helped me appreciate the importance of observation, thoughtful decision-making, and attention to detail in visual storytelling.
